4/25/16

Well, we finally got the thunderstorms they have been talking about.  It was quite the downpour with hail as well which I could have done without and glad it stayed small.  So we are finally getting our April showers for May flowers.  My image today is of an April flower though.  My Columbine are in bloom.  I have some that are of the more wild type but I had bought a pink variety last year and that came back though a bit small, possibly due to the lack of rain.  It has a few blooms on it and a couple which are open now.  I took this macro of one of the blooms the other day.  I love the shape of these flowers,  sort of like a bird head and sort of like a bell as well.  Quite interesting.  From Wikipedia: The common name "columbine" comes from the Latin for "dove", due to the resemblance of the inverted flower to five doves clustered together.
