While out on a bike ride recently I was able to see and capture this Painted Turtle. It was sitting off on the edge of the road and seemed out of harms way so I just photographed it and left it where it was to continue on it's way. I always wonder where they think they are going. 😄
Nice looking turtle, but I think you'll find it is a box turtle. Painted turtles (ours anyway) are slimmer, darker and have a red band around the outside of the bottom of their shell
